Είχα την τιμή να συνεργαστώ το 2022 σε ένα έργο κομβικής σημασίας για το Υπουργείο Ψηφιακής Διακυβέρνησης που αφορούσε τον ενδελεχή έλεγχο για την ευχρηστία και την προσβασιμότητα των 12 πιο συχνά χρησιμοποιούμενων υπηρεσιών της πλατφόρμας Gov.gr, της καθιερωμένης – πλέον – Ενιαίας Ψηφιακής Πύλης της Ελληνικής Δημόσιας Διοίκησης. Από την αρχή της συνεργασίας μας, με εντυπωσίασε η βαθιά κατανόηση των συνεργατών της εταιρείας στον τομέα της ψηφιακής προσβασιμότητας, καθώς και η μεθοδική προσέγγισή τους, η οποία περιλάμβανε – μεταξύ άλλων – σταδιακή και αρθρωτή υλοποίηση παρεμβάσεων ώστε τα κύρια προβλήματα να επιλυθούν πριν οι υπηρεσίες φτάσουν στους τελικούς χρήστες. Ιδιαίτερα σημαντική για την επιτυχία του έργου ήταν η συμμετοχή ατόμων με αναπηρία, γεγονός που διασφαλίζει ότι η αξιολόγηση βασίστηκε σε πραγματικές εμπειρίες χρηστών. Είναι πρωτοπόροι στην Ελλάδα στο πεδίο της ψηφιακής προσβασιμότητας και επιπλέον πρέπει να γίνει ιδιαίτερη μνεία στο γεγονός ότι οι συνεργάτες της εταιρείας διαθέτουν, πέραν της πρακτικής εμπειρίας, πιστοποιήσεις από τον Διεθνή Οργανισμό Επαγγελματιών Προσβασιμότητας (IAAP), λαμβάνοντας υπόψη ότι η κατοχή τέτοιων διαπιστευμένων τίτλων είναι σπάνια στην Ελλάδα.

I really appreciated learning from all 3 of you. You make a great team. The practical demonstration allowed me to see what kind of insight we can get from this kind of test (terminology, synonyms, hyperonyms/hyponyms). Learning by being the test participants was really helpful to understand how participants might feel while taking these tests and how to walk them through the test. I also loved the demo of Google Analytics and the team exercises. It was a pleasure connecting every week and getting to work on exercises with the other learners.

Our accessibility recommendations rarely focus and affect design elements and their visual appearance. About 90% of the fixes concern the code and positively affect users with disabilities without changing the UI design. Applying accessibility guidelines and fixes improves usability and benefits all users.
As there is no perfect or absolute user experience, there is no 100% accessibility. We can quantify progress (i.e., the percentage of issues we resolve); however, the user experience of people with disabilities cannot be measured in absolute terms, and there is always room for improvement.
No, we definitely do not use an accessibility overlay and we strongly suggest our clients not to use one either. Accessibility overlays cannot detect and permanently fix accessibility issues and may even create new barriers for users with disabilities (e.g., override the settings that users have set in their devices).
Practically no. The European Commission has stated that “claims of achieving full accessibility compliance through automated overlays alone are unrealistic, since no automated tool can cover all the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA criteria.” Methods such as manual, expert-based audits and usability testing with users with disabilities are essential for compliance.
